Club History

The Umatilla Kiwanis Club was chartered as one of 7,700 clubs in 80 countries in 1936. Our motto is "Serving the Children of the World".


The club has 62 members at present, we are one of the largest Kiwanis clubs in Lake County Florida consisting of retired and currently employed men and women from all walks of life. We are part of kiwanis International, a thriving organization of service and community-minded individuals supporting children and young adults, Our club responds to the needs of our community through its sponsership of local youth activities.

Our club is a member of Kiwanis International Florida Disdtrict Division 9, which consists of 14 associated clubs in Lake Country and an Umatilla Kiwanis member, Skip Babb, was the division 9 Lt. Governor in 2016 as was his father in years past.

Our major projects are:

Purchase of playgroundf equipment at Larkin Park in Umatilla, 5 - $2000 scholarships each year to Umatilla High School graduates, funds and judging for local school science pairs, ticket and gate service at Umatilla High School footbal games, flag service on Route 19 for 10 national holidays, donating dicionaries to local schools, funds for various and numberous local youth organizations including $5000 to our local Boys Scouts troop for renovatingf their club house, books for science related childrens programs at the Umatilla Library.

We sponsor the leadership oriented Key Club at Umatilla High School, the Builders Club at Paisley Spring Creek Charter School plus Terrific Kids Clubs in Paisley and Altoona charter school. We support the STEM projects at the Umatilla elementary School.

Our fundraisers are a BBQ dinner in the fall at the Umatilla High School,  a 5K run in Umatilla, separate raffles for a IPod and a bicycle, a golf tournament in association with the Umatilla Chamber of Commerce, a prayer breakfast, Christmas citrus sales, grants from Florida's Natural and contributions from our Umatilla Kiwanis members.
